Outdoor Outlet is an outdoor retailer dedicated to providing great deals on quality outdoor equipment. We believe enjoying the outdoors should be affordable and we work hard to bring our customers the best value on camping, backpacking and specialty outdoor gear.
At Outdoor Outlet, our staff and team of professionals share a love for camping and the outdoors. We personally test and use many of the products we carry, allowing us to help our customers choose the best product to meet their specific needs. We believe in customer satisfaction and are committed to providing the best service possible.
History
Founded in May of 1983, Outdoor Outlet started out as a single retail store in St. George, Utah. Originally named the “Wenzel Outlet Store”, the company was founded by the Kellwood Company. Kellwood was also the parent company to popular outdoor brands Wenzel and Kelty at that time, and the first store carried many Wenzel and Kelty products. The name was changed to “Outdoor Outlet” during the second year of operation.
The first few years were very successful, and Outdoor Outlet expanded to a total of 7 retail locations across the United States including Alabama, Colorado, Missouri, Texas, Utah, and Vermont. After several years owners changed hands, and it was decided to keep just the St. George, Utah location and to close the other retail stores.
In the early 1990s, Outdoor Outlet began its mail order catalog service in addition to the retail store. In 1997, www.OutdoorOutlet.com was launched and we began selling over the internet as well.
In 2009, Outdoor Outlet merged with new owners.
Today, Outdoor Outlet operates from multiple warehouse outlets in Upstate New York, Northern California and Southern California.
